Timely submission, precision coding, and excellent communication with patients and third parties can impact the success of your practice. Staff responsible for the management of insurance claims and coding will benefit by attending this workshop to sharpen their skills and learn new ways to improve delivery of service to your patients.

Medical claims submission has the potential to be rewarding to the dentist and dental patient. There are many services provided by licensed dentists that can be submitted to the patients’ medical carrier. They include diagnostic services, medical services, surgical services and in some cases prosthetic services.
If one is going to be able to benefit from Medical Claim Billing, you MUST make a commitment to the process and its unpredictable learning curve. At the outset of the process, it is imperative that the dentist have an active participation.
This course will provide the basics for medical claim submission and share the landscape with you.

Learning Objectives:
• To acquaint the dentist and his/her staff with the intricacies, nuances and pitfalls when filing dental insurance claim forms.
• A reverse perspective of what the insurance carrier expects from your office when you file an insurance claim form for either predetermination or payment.
• Included will be parameters for procedure acceptance, compliance and record keeping, the appeal process and triggers for office audits and fraud reviews.
• Understand the basic structure of AMA ICD-10 Medical Coding and recognize appropriate indications for submitting to Medical Billing.
• Understand differences between types of dental insurance to increase effective patient communication.
• Properly apply American Dental Association 2016 CDT codes for more accurate coding submissions.
• Communicate with third parties to handle controversial coding issues.
