Pit and Fissure Sealants- A review from Placement to Products- Hands on Program

This comprehensive program will review the ABC’s of Sealant application. A hands on program which will cover proper placement to the new and exciting products that are available today. Come refresh your skills while learning about the new and exciting ways to administer sealants.  Limited seating is available . You must be an RDH or RDA to take this program.

Learning Objectives: At the end of the course the participants should be able to:

• Discuss the purpose of pit and fissure sealants.
• Discuss considerations of who most benefits from pit and fissure sealants.
• Describe types of sealant materials and their relative advantages and disadvantages.
• Describe the proper application of pit and fissure sealants.
• List common errors in the placement of pit and fissure sealants.
• Explain to patients/parents the role of pit and fissure sealants in caries prevention.
• Discuss the information that should be shared with patients/parents regarding sealant placement and subsequent recall appointments.

Instructor: Latanya Williams, RDH, Adjust instructor DSI with over 25 years of teaching and clinical experience. She graduated from Loyola University (New Orleans, LA) with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree. She has instructed for allied dental education programs as well as served as full-time faculty at Rutgers School of Health Related Professions (formerly UMDNJ-SHRP). She has presented on various dental continuing education topics over the years.
