Anesthesia Renewal Program with Hands on Component: 

This course will satisfy NJ renewal requirements for Anesthesia administration which is required every other renewal period to keep your Dental Anesthesia Permit in good standing.

Course Description & Objectives:

The program will provide a review of  pre-anesthetic risk assessments, patient selection and anesthetic choice, demonstration of the proper administration of local anesthesia, recognition and management of adverse reactions or medical emergencies, and appropriate documentation.

This program includes a “Clinical Hands-On” component which includes practice giving the approved injections.  Participants will be able to administer injections and practice hands on skills.

Enrollment in this renewal program is limited to Dental Hygienists holding a current NJ Anesthesia Permit.  Participants will be able to administer injections and practice hands on skills.

Attendees will need to provide proof of a current NJ Dental Anesthesia Permit upon registering,

Attendees will be receiving and administrating injections.

Location: St. Joseph Hospital Dental Clinic, Paterson, NJ

Prerequisites:

  • Current RDH, American Heart Association BLS CPR for the Health-Care Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Current active health insurance.
  • A copy of all the above must be provided with registration.
  • A copy of your Current NJ Hygienist Anesthesia Certification permit or Certificate

Instructor: Dr. Hillel Ephros, DMD, MD, Chairman, Department of Dentistry / Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Medical Director of the Regional Craniofacial Center and Residency Program Director, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery , St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.  Former examiner for the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Adjunct Professor, New York Medical College and adjunct faculty member, Columbia University and Rutgers dental schools.

 

The teaching method will be in a lecture format and Hands-On with a Q & A period.
